📋 Recap

  • The $300,000 amii Health Innovation Lab application is in, submitted ahead of the September 28 deadline and scoped to the women's health call on gynecological and obstetrical ultrasound, built off the existing IRAP project plan.
  • PrairiesCan RTRI now has a named sponsor and a concrete structure. Oba Harding at PrairiesCan recommended the Regional Tariff Response Initiative directly, with the narrative built around bringing SonoSystem manufacturing from Mexico back into Canada in-house.
  • We have the program terms confirmed: liquidity support up to $2,000,000 at 50%, pivot projects up to $1,000,000 non-repayable, repayable up to 75% above $1,000,000, a non-repayable cap of $3,000,000, and intake running to December 31, 2028. The piece that still has to be built is documented tariff and trade-disruption impact — quantified cost impacts or lost contracts.
  • The AI Industry Commercialization Associate application at $120,000 is at final sign-off with Alberta Innovates. The timing is good given the closed round and active hiring.
  • The PrairiesCan BSP program page was updated September 11 and the expression-of-interest route is confirmed as ongoing — and the earlier decline rested solely on pre-raise financials, which no longer applies.
  • SR&ED has been enhanced in Budget 2025: the expenditure limit rises to $6,000,000 and capital-expenditure eligibility is restored. One important limit — only Canadian-sourced capital expenditure qualifies, so payments to the Mexico manufacturer are out.
  • Two scan corrections carried forward: IDEaS came off the immediate-action list (the $6,750,000 figure is a phased ceiling, not an open call, and the one open medical call does not align to diagnostic ultrasound), and the AICE second-indication track is withdrawn while the $600,000 Market Access file is under review.
  • The CAN Health Network is added as a continuous-intake priority.

🔭 Outlook

  • This week — the general ledger, so the FY2025–26 SR&ED claim can proceed. This is the single item gating a claim we expect to be worth $300,000+. The closed-round investment agreement is the companion item, needed for both the BSP and RTRI files.
  • Within two weeks — submit the refreshed PrairiesCan BSP expression of interest, and call PrairiesCan directly to test RTRI eligibility against the tariff-impact test before we scope the ask.
  • Mid-October — the NATO DIANA decision at approximately $160,000 CAD is now expected within weeks rather than in November.
  • The $600,000 AICE Market Access file still needs the 2026 cashflow statement and the May–July financial statements to complete.
  • Escalate to the Technology Development Advisor for status on the two Alberta Innovates applications still unreviewed roughly four months after filing.
  • Within thirty days — raise NRC IRAP Defence Industry Assist with the ITA and confirm sequencing against the planned IRAP project.
  • Before November 27 — confirm the next AICE intake date with the Technology Development Advisor and prepare the form. One note on the Alberta Innovates direction: the newly announced intake focuses on energy, environment, aerospace and food, and health is not among the announced focus areas — so we are confirming rather than assuming.
  • On recruitment — the proposal for the VP of Software Engineering search is with you: straight contingency at 20% of first-year base, no retainer, no minimum commitment, no exclusivity, a 90-day replacement guarantee, and no fee on self-sourced candidates. We have candidates in hand and can move as soon as you are ready.
  • Support continues on the Concordia re-engagement on nonverbal cue detection, with Wosler as industry partner on the NSERC bid.

📝 Notes

Several company figures still differ across documents — clinic count, monthly billings, headcount and MDSAP status. We are not attesting to any of them in an application until they are reconciled, and a short call to settle them would clear the way for the BSP and RTRI filings.
